Prof. Dr. Bidlingmaier of Bauhaus University, Weimar is the main scientific supervisor regarding waste management aspects. At Bauhaus University, the compostion of biobin waste will be examined with special attention to the compostable packaging content and the non-organic waste content, i.e. misthrows. The performance of the BDP-packaging from Kassel will be evaluted in the composting plant of Goettingen. Furthermore the resulting compost quality and the use of the resulting compost in agriculture will be analyzed.

Final results of waste analysis will be presented at the end of the project in 2002. The following can be noted from the preliminary results: The percentage of missthrows into the biobin has not changed significantly compared to the zero analysis before the project was started. As a matter of fact, the amount of missthrows tends to be decreasing. The available BDP products were mostly disposed of in the organic waste bin. Another positive result: BDP compost is just as suitable for agricultural cultivation as BDP-free quality-controled compost.
